Volunteering is fun, big time.
What if every child fulfilled their potential? Think how amazing that would be. Now, you can start more Littles on the path to big things.
Being a Big Brother or Big Sister is one of the most enjoyable things you’ll ever do. Not to mention, one of the most fulfilling. You have the opportunity to help shape a child’s future for the better by empowering them to achieve. And the best part is, it’s actually a lot of fun. You and your Little can share the kinds of activities you already like to do.
Play sports together. Go on a hike. Read books. Eat a pizza with extra anchovies. Or just give some advice and inspiration. Whatever it is you enjoy, odds are you’ll enjoy them even more with your Little—and you’ll be making a life-changing impact.
Volunteering just a few hours a month with a child can start something amazing. So why not apply to be a Big today. There are kids out there ready to get started. Are you?

How To Become a Big In five easy steps
1. Submit Your Inquiry
Prospectives Bigs will submit their inquiry online at bbbsn.org. Once our match support team receives your inquiry we will review your application and be in touch to schedule an in person interview.
A member from our match support team will conduct your interview at our office. He/she will have you complete a release for background, driving and reference check. Once the interview is complete and the background and reference check has been cleared, we call you to schedule a time to attend our Big Orientation.
3. Attend Big Orientation
During Big Orientation you will learn about our agency, child safety, rules and guidelines for Bigs and much more!
4. Get Matched
We take match making very seriously! A Big and Little are matched based upon multiple variables, including personality compatibility along with the goal of creating a long-term friendship.
5. Monitor and Support
We provide Bigs and Little on-going support throughout the duration of the mentoring relationship.
We need Big Brothers!
More than 70% of our children waiting for a Big are boys, but only 3 out of every 10 inquiries to volunteer come from men. Research shows that having the positive influence of a Big Brother makes a real difference in a boy's life.
